Meditate to ease your mind

It is not strange to have different feelings such as confusion, worry or stress in the current crisis we are going through caused by the coronavirus.
For this reason, it is important to remain calm and ease our mind both in this moment and in any other difficult situation. To face problems patiently and calmly will be crucial to make the most out of any situation.
What is meditation?
Meditation is training your mind and your heart to achieve a greater mental and emotional freedom.
What are its benefits?
Meditation can bring several benefits.
It reduces stress and anxiety. Meditate helps us to maintain a quiet mind and allows us to face the day much more relaxed.
It also improves our physical health since it strengthens our immune system and eases pain.
Another benefit is having a greater awareness of the present moment. By remaining calm in each situation, we will be able to enjoy much more every moment.
It boosts creative thinking and increases our intellectual abilities. It also leads to maintain a more positive attitude and helps us facing and tackling our daily challenges, even the hardest ones, as part of a constant process of personal growth.
Practice
We may meditate occasionally since it is better than not meditating at all but the key to success is daily practice. The recommended time is from 40 minutes to 1 hour although each person will decide how long to do it.
We could start with 10-minute sessions since it is important to do it little by little being aware of the process and not performing it automatically. Meditation is not about fully clearing your mind of any thoughts but it is a state that must be reached. It is similar to try falling asleep. There are two techniques that may be helpful.
Mindfulness is about concentrating in the here and now, which inspired in the Buddhist tradition, it is about reaching full and aware attention on the present moment without conditions to ease your mind.
On the other hand, there is concentrating on your breath. If your thoughts start drifting during the session, you should come back to the present moment. It may seem an easy task but it is not. Thoughts are so frequent in our mind that we do not realize sometimes that we are having them and to clear our mind is a great achievement.
If you would like to keep a peaceful mind, meditation is your exercise. To practice it will help you facing any situation from a positive point of view.
