Accessible summer plans

Summer time has arrived and it is the moment to enjoy outdoors free time.

As wheelchair user, you can find a great variety of plans available.  If you remember our post about accessible plans for Christmas, you should know how many possibilities there are waiting for you. Today we are going to deal with accessible summer plans. Let’s start!

Travelling

Exploring new places, discovering new cultures… There are infinite reasons to travel.

When you choose your destination, transport is a very important aspect to take into account. In most European countries, you will be able to travel by train which is one of the best adapted means of transport.

Hiking

There are many adapted routes in Spain if you are a nature lover.

For example, the known as “la Vía Verde del Noroeste” (the northwest green route) in the Region of Murcia has 40 adapted kilometres.

Trip to the beach

If you are a sea lover, you will be able to enjoy 100% adapted beaches in Spain and across the world.

In Spain, there are beaches with adapted entrance in every seaside autonomous communities and in some cases, adapted parking spaces and changing rooms are to be found such as in the following beaches: La Primera de El Sardinero (Cantabria), Los Narejos (Murcia), Nova Icaria (Barcelona) or Gorliz (Vizcaya)…

Regarding adapted beaches abroad, there are some such as: Hanauma (Hawaii), Pattaya Beach (Thailand) and Umag (Croatia).

Music festivals

Most music festivals are currently adapted so that people with reduced mobility can also enjoy the music.

Some of these adapted festivals are:

FIB: there is an adapted parking lot and bathrooms and also special seating on stage.

Rototom: there is a Reggae festival in Benicassim called Rototom which provides adapted spaces and free tickets for people with over 65% disability.

Leyendas del Rock (Rock legends): there are access ramps and a raised platform.

Theme parks

If what you are looking for is the adrenaline rush, congratulations, there are many accessible theme parks.

There is PortAventura and Warner Bros in Spain where you can enjoy almost all rides and there are also wheelchairs for rent and reduced fees.

There are also a great variety of adapted theme parks worldwide. For example, in Texas (USA), there is a 100% adapted water park.
